tweets - not just a billboard, but marketing, notices, outreach and more?
if you're using robo-calling today, why not an online search for your new customer, or your amplified customer?

At the very least, any banking entity allowed into the Twitter network could post lending rates or advertise interest rates for accounts as they change.

I do not currently "Twitter" so I'm not even sure if corporate entities are allowed within the network. If they are not, perhaps any user could select whether or not they wanted to see updates from businesses.

The more I think about it, the more I realize how nice it would be to get periodic updates on rates, stock market percentages, financial stats that change throughout the day. The economy is so very volatile right now and there's no easy way to track it. Having a stream of current information delivered directly to you is becoming more appealing by the second.

Netbanker also has a list of banks and CUs on Twitter. Good list to see what other banks are doing already.

We actually offer a fantastic app called Twitter Tracker. Check out my page. At the top I have the Twitter Tracker set to scan Twitter for all tweets on banking. I find it is a greatly useful tool.

If a pro athlete can tweet during a game, maybe we should get bank tellers to start tweeting during customer interactions.

From the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel:

Did Milwaukee Bucks' forward Charlie Villanueva "tweet" on his Twitter account at halftime of the Boston Celtics-Bucks game on Sunday at the Bradley Center?

Yes, Bucks officials said Tuesday.

In what team officials are calling an "isolated incident," Villanueva sent out a message on his personal Twitter account shortly after Bucks coaches finished their halftime instructions to the team.

Villanueva, whose Twitter ID is CV31, wrote this on his Twitter account: "In da locker room, snuck to post with my twitt. We’re playing the Celtics, tie ball game at da half. Coach wants more toughness. I gotta step up.”

Apparently he did. Villanueva scored 19 points and snared seven rebounds to lead the Bucks to a 86-77 win over the Celtics.

The game was tied at halftime 41-41.

Twitter is a free social messaging utility for staying connected in real time. It has grown in use enormously in recent months as a way of communicating. Athletes, businesses and media have embraced the technology as a means of pushing out information.

Villanueva also maintains his own personal Web site.

Shortly after word got out about Villanueva's tweet, Villanueva explained himself in another tweet later that night: "By the way, lets just get the record straight, my halftime twitt had no interference with what goes on regularly during the locker room."

A Bucks team spokesman said he did not think other Bucks players had used Twitter during a game, or at halftime. Center Andrew Bogut has a Twitter account, but he has been out for weeks with a back injury.

Dan Smyczek, a Bucks spokesman, said he did not know if Villanueva would be fined or disciplined for the action. At least one sports blog has claimed that Villanueva may have been the first athlete to do such a thing during a game.

But judging from the growth of Twitter, he may not be the last.

Good ideas. Just be careful about overloading the followers. I've done my share of both broadcast and microcast outreach systems over the years and I know how much it costs the ROI to have to allocate recovery energy to win people back once you scorn them. You can go from killer app to road kill pretty fast.

JJ,
I went ahead and created a Twitter presence so people can follow IRA on Twitter. Took all of a 15 minutes to set it up and an about an hour to integrate it into some initial pages on the www.institutionalriskanalytics.com website. Sadly the prettier flash object response is too slow so we used the HTML script method instead. By the time I wrote this note we already had followers coming on board. This is a good next step reach extension for anyone who already has gone through the process of establishing decent eyeball share on the the web, has an RSS following and needs to reach through various B2B points of presence to inform users directly. Good topic man. - D
