The lifeblood of banking is retail, which is why some of the best innovation takes place at the magical place where actual consumers meet actual banks -- or at least their ATM colleagues. We'll track it here.

Thanks, JJ for creating this space. Retail is the area that will kick-start banking again post sub-prime. I'm looking for a fresh and innovative approach to services being offered by the banks - not just in the US but globally as this crash has hit everywhere.

Because if they don't, someone else will. Consumer finance won't wait for ever and simply relying on the perception of banks being a safe pair of hands won't cut it any more.

Umpqua Bank is a great study of a financial institution taking this retail approach. Take a look at my blog here.
