There’s not much you can’t do on the USAA mobile app.
In a recent update, version 6.14 on iOS, the bank added emergency alerts, which, if opted into, notify users of natural disasters and provide information and assistance when a disaster is in the area. The San Antonio-based bank also added three more features: the ability to monitor the value of a customer’s home; the ability to share USAA documents from the app; and the ability to refinance the customer’s existing auto loan.
USAA, being (almost) branchless, has long been an innovator in digital banking. Loans, due to their complexity and regulatory requirements, are often seen as being resistant to “going mobile,” but this barrier is beginning to fall.
These features join an already full-featured app. Through the USAA mobile app, users can manage their finances, deposit checks, research and invest in stocks, file insurance claims, and even find rental cars. The reason USAA’s apps are so packed is because they have just 19 branches across the United States, despite holding $56 billion in customer deposits.
