Backbase has partnered with the CIS Banking division of France-based electronics and security company Thales. The partnership strengthens and further extends the reach of Backbase’s eco-system of companies with deep financial services roots.
“It’s great to work with a regional partner like Thales because not only do they have deep expertise in the financial services industry and core systems there, but they combine it with existing, strong relationships with local banks,” said Jouk Pleiter, Backbase CEO.
Commenting on the partnership David Moreno, Banking & Insurance Sector Director for Thales said: “We were looking for a way to update our banking systems and give our clients Web 2.0 functionality. Backbase’s user-experience layer compliments our existing systems and allows for the kind of customer engagement our clients require.”
Thales named Saudi Arabia-based Al Rajhi, one of the largest Islamic banks in the world, as one of the first customers set to benefit from the Backbase user-experience platform.
Thales is a global technology leader for the Defence & Security and the Aerospace & Transport markets. In 2010, the company generated revenues of €13.1 billion with 68,000 employees in 50 countries. Thales has an exceptional international footprint, with operations around the world working with customers as local partners. Thales Spain employs 2,000 staff members. Our flagship product, Backbase Portal, offers a new, user experience layer on top of existing systems, and links people to the vital information and resources they need. It unites isolated content and applications to create a seamless, online experience without the need to change underlying infrastructure and IT systems. An efficient design enables companies to create high-quality portals that empower e-business professionals to manage, and optimize, their online customer interactions with less IT support. This means faster time to market for new business requirements.
Global 2000 enterprises such as ABN Amro, AIG, Al Rajhi Bank, Barclays, Bank of America, BT, General Motors, ING, KPN, Motorola, NXP, Philips, UBS and Visa, use Backbase technology to create personalized customer experiences.
Backbase was founded in 2003 and is privately funded with operations in New York and Amsterdam.
